Burkina Faso has re-installed the curfew order across the country effective January 2, 2016.

The dusk to dawn curfew was suspended for three days on Wednesday due to the end of year festivities.

It was imposed in the aftermath of the September 17, 2015 military coup that briefly ousted the dissolved interim government.

The curfew was reinforced two weeks ago after a group of soldiers attempted to attack a prison and free coup leader Gen Gilbert Diendéré who is awaiting trial.

A statement from the security ministry and read on the national broadcaster on Saturday night said the curfew hours will now run from 1am to 4am daily.

During the curfew, security agents will pursue several soldiers who were allegedly linked to the attempted prison break but managed to escape and are still on the run.

About 10 of them were arrested and also being held in the maximum security prison in the capital, Ouagadougou while awaiting trial by a military court.
