Kenya is to be featured during the 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in the heart of Washington DC.
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an annual 10-day event attended by more than 1.5 million visitors.
It will run from June 25-29 and July 2-6.
Kenya is the fifth African country (first in East Africa) to be featured at the festival.
The Kenya program at the 2014 Festival is a partnership between the government of Kenya and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, with the support and participation of many others.
The Festival provides an opportunity for US citizens and the world to experience Kenya's rich and diverse cultural and natural resources.
The Folklife Festival has a strong Kenya Diaspora component. The role of the Diaspora will be communicated in detail in due course.
In addition the Festival's Marketplace will feature Kenyan art, crafts, music and other products.
Kenya's embassy in Washington DC is in the process of creating a database of prospective participants from the Diaspora.
Those interested in participating as volunteers, exhibitors, vendors or entertainers can email details to [email protected]
