Kapenguria High Court on Friday suspended decision by the Kenya National Examination Council to cancel national exams results for Ortum and St Cecilia secondary schools.

The exams body has cancelled the 2017 results for 320 students from Ortum and 162 from St Cecilia citing cheating.

In the case of Ortum Boys Secondary School, Knec cited collusion in the English, Biology and Physics exams while for St Cecilia Girls Secondary School it cited malpractices in the English and Physics tests.

But, Judge Stephen Githinji in his ruling said Knec cancelled the results without following proper procedure.

He gave the examination body 14 days to investigate the allegations of cheating and make a final decision on whether to cancel or uphold the results.

The judge said the cancellation of the exams will be quashed if Knec fails to investigate the alleged malpractices.

The court further ordered Knec to pay the school’s administration all the costs incurred during the hearing of the case.

The case was filed by Pokot South MP David Pkossing.
