President Kenyatta consoles families of four students who died in Kisii accident

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday mourned the death of four students of St Mary's Nyamagwa Girls Secondary School who died in a road accident in Kisii.

President Kenyatta said the accident has robbed the country of young talents that would have made significant contribution to the country’s development.

“Their death is a big loss to their close family, relatives and friends as well as the nation at large,” President Kenyatta said

He urged road users, particularly drivers, to drive carefully and exercise maximum caution to avoid accidents and loss of lives.

Mr Kenyatta wished quick recovery to those who were injured in the accident and are admitted in hospital.

Sixty seven other students were injured in Friday accident that happened a short distance from the school.

Form Three students were said to be taking a ride in the new school bus when it was involved in the accident.

Witnesses told the Nation that the bus overturned after the driver lost control of it.

The injured students were rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The accident occurred about three kilometres from the school on the Igare-Itumbe road.
