Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has made history after finishing the 42 kilometre London Marathon Sunday.
Mrs Kenyatta was running in the marathon in an effort to raise funds for her “Beyond Zero” campaign.
The campaign seeks to eliminate preventable maternal and early childhood deaths.
The First Lady finished the race in 07:05:28 hours.
Fans followed updates of her movements on Twitter and congratulated her for finishing the race.
They termed it as an amazing achievement.
According to one tweet by @Ngendow, Mrs Kenyatta has made history as the “first African first lady to complete the 42 kilometre marathon. This, according to the tweet, has made her a “phenomenal woman.”
The First Lady was met at the finish line by jubilant fans and family members led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta who is also her mother-in-law.
