Two of the members of Parliament who walked out on President Uhuru Kenyatta in Bomet three weeks ago have apologised to him.

Bomet Woman Representative Joyce Korir and Senator Christopher Langat were speaking during at the opening of four classrooms at Sotik Primary School on Saturday by Governor Joyce Laboso and Kesses MP Swarup Mishra.

“We have cleared the air over the protocol row with the President and made him understand that it was not out of disrespect for him,” Mrs Korir said

“The protocol officers at State House are to blame for the hitch during the opening of a tuition block at Bomet University College, where we were not accorded the chance to speak about the myriad problems affecting the South Rift Valley region’s residents,” she added.

Meanwhile, Dr Langat said the protest had nothing to do with the President Kenyatta or Governor Laboso, whom they had blamed for not inviting them to speak during the function.

“Our protest was blown out of proportion but I have talked to the President and cleared the issue with him,” said Mr Langat, adding that they had made two attempts to book an appointment with the President at State House to clarify the issues but were locked out.
