  • Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said Cord would mobilize their supporters to march to Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet's office on Thursday if no action is taken against the MPs.
  • Mr Bosire said Mr Kuria and other leaders allied to the Jubilee coalition have in the past week made inflammatory statements in public but no action had been taken against them.

Cord wants three MPs and a governor arrested and charged over hate speech.

Addressing journalists on Monday, Cord leaders named MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) and Maina Kamanda (Starehe), and Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua as leaders who should be prosecuted.

The leaders, led by ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire, said they would not accept Mr Kuria as one of the negotiators appointed by Jubilee to solve the IEBC stalemate.

“Kuria is also supposed to be a negotiator seconded by the President to the envisaged talks on the future of [the] IEBC. Kuria cannot be negotiating while calling for Raila's assassination at the same time," said Mr Bosire.

He said Cord would mobilize their supporters to march to Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet's office on Thursday if no action is taken against the MPs.

Mr Bosire said Mr Kuria and other leaders allied to the Jubilee coalition have in the past week made inflammatory statements in public but no action had been taken against them.

"On Saturday, in Nakuru town, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, with the support of Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, mobilized thugs and attempted to invade a meeting being addressed by opposition leader Raila Odinga.

"This came only days after youth under the command of MPs Dennis Waweru, Maina Kamanda and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru traversed the city of Nairobi then to Upper Hill, where they blocked the entrance to Mr Raila's office while baying for his blood," said the Kitutu Masaba MP.

National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairperson Francis Kaparo has said Mr Kuria and Mr Ngunjiri would be summoned over hate speech.
