Atwoli: Uhuru alone in fight against corruption

Trade unionist Francis Atwoli now says President Uhuru Kenyatta has been deserted by top government officials in his fight against corruption.
“President Kenyatta means well for this country. He is very much concerned about Kenya. His problem is that for all these years he has no one to assist him,” Mr Atwoli told JKL show on Citizen TV.
The money was allegedly siphoned from the institution in the last three years in a well-orchestrated scheme involving senior government officials and ghost suppliers.
Already, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Noordin Haji and the Public Accounts Committee, are set to probe those involved in the scandal.
The opposition has also demanded the resignation of two Cabinet Secretaries Henry Rotich (Treasury) and his Health counterpart Sicily Kariuki as well as budget boss Ms Agnes Odhiambo over the NYS heist.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has also interrogated Public Service Principal Secretary Lilian Mbogo Omollo and NYS Director-General Richard Ndubai, and the duo is set to face another round of grilling.
Mr Atwoli accused top government officials of lying to the president of the rot in the government, claiming they stand to benefit from corruption.
The Cotu boss reiterated the need for constitutional review, saying it is the only way to stabilise the nation.
But he denied reports that he is pushing for the return of the Prime Minister position in the Executive.
“People mistook me. I did not suggest the formation a Prime Minister position. All I said is that we want an all-inclusive constitution when it comes to leadership within the Executive.”
