MPs to vet DPP nominee Noordin Hajj on Monday

The National Assembly will Monday vet Deputy National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Noordin Hajj for the position of Director of Public Prosecution.

President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Mr Hajj and forwarded his name to the National Assembly on March 13 for vetting and approval.

Mr Hajj is expected to appear before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee at 9.30am.

President Kenyatta bypassed experienced senior prosecutors including Dorcas Oduor, Jacob Ondari and Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni to nominate the Mr Hajj.

The NIS advises the President and the government of any threat or potential threat to national security.

Five principal secretary nominees, John Morangi (Mining), Alfred Korir Cheruiyot (Correctional Services), Jerome Ochieng’ (ICT) Harry Kimtai (Livestock) and Susan Koech (East African Community) will also be vetted.
