Baringo Senator Gideon Moi meets MCAs from Tharaka-Nithi

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi on Friday met with some ward representatives from Tharaka-Nithi as he seeks political support ahead of the 2022 elections.
Mr Moi met 12 ward representatives drawn from Jubilee, Narc-Kenya and Independent parties.
Tharaka Nithi which is a Jubilee zone has 15 MCAs and three did not attend the meeting held at a Nairobi hotel.
The Assembly's leader of minority Nyaga Muisraeli (Muthambi) said the leaders confirmed their support for Mr Moi's 2022 presidential bid.
“We met with Mr Gideon Moi because we have decided that he will be our presidential flag bearer in 2022,” said Mr Nyaga.
They said they settled on Mr Moi as his political career is not tainted with scandals and corruption.
At the same time the MCA said they will campaign for Mr Moi because his father, former President Daniel arap Moi, made Tharaka a district.
“Our association with the Mr Moi family did not start yesterday. It started with his father who the people of Tharaka-Nithi will forever be indebted to as he gave them a district that gave birth to Tharaka-Nithi County,” said Mr Nyaga.
The MCAs urged Mr Moi to start campaigns and make Tharaka-Nithi his first stop in his hunt for votes in Mout Kenya region.
This is the second delegation from Eastern that Mr Moi is meeting as the battle for the top seat takes shape.
Last month Mr Moi met Njuri Ncheke (Meru elders) in Nakuru in a meeting held at former President Daniel arap Moi’s Press Secretary Mr Lee Njiru’s home.
The elders were led by their supreme council chairman James Merianga who promised to rally the Meru people to support him.
The other Jubilee MCAs who attended the meeting include Jones Kinegeni (Mwimbi), Charles Nyaga (Mitheru), Peterson Mwirigi (Ganga), Dennis Mutwiri (Mugwe), Murithi Gaturo (Karingani), Njagi Mradi (Ciakariga), Mutegi Rugia (Gatunga), Leonard Gitonga (Nkondi), Justin Githinji, Independent (Magumoni ), Erastus Kinyua and Mwenda Gataya, Narc Kenya (Mukothima).
Three Jubilee MCAs did not attend the meeting and include Margaret Gitari (Chogoria), Njri Kigwari (Igwangombe) and Susan Nguyo (Marimanti).
