The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued a certificate to Moses Kuria declaring him MP for Gatundu South constituency.

IEBC declared Mr Kuria the new MP for the constituency after his only opponent withdrew from the by-election that was to be held Thursday.

Mr Joachim Kamere of the New Democrats Party returned the nomination certificate, called Form 21, to IEBC.

The move cleared the way for Mr Kuria to become the next MP.

The seat fell vacant after the death of Joseph Ngugi Nyumu in May 2014.
