IEBC postpones Mathare by-election

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has pushed the Mathare by-election to Monday, August 11, 2014.
This follows an order by the High Court for the IEBC to include former Kasarani MP William Omondi's name on the ballot paper as a contestant in the by-election.
The by-election was initially scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2014.
"IEBC wishes to inform the general public that the Mathare Constituency by-election, earlier scheduled for 7th August, 2014 has been postponed to Monday, 11th August, 2014," a statement by acting chief executive Betty Nyabuto said.
However, by-elections in Gatundu South constituency and in Homa Bay County's Kibiri ward will proceed as earlier scheduled on Thursday, August 7, 2014.
