Opposition MPs want former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru arrested over the Sh791 million National Youth Service scandal.

MPs Jakoyo Midiwo (Gem), Nicholas Gumbo (Rarieda), Florence Mutua (Busia) and Simba Arati (Dagoreti North) also want the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, which they accused of sanitising corrupt leaders, disbanded.

“Kenyans will no longer sit and watch as billions of shillings are embezzled,” Mr Midiwo said, adding: “Corruption has now become an epidemic in Kenya under the Jubilee administration and we cannot allow it.”

Mr Midiwo said the opposition would do everything to kick Jubilee out. “Its leaders are more focused on looting public resources than serving Kenyans,” added.

Mr Arati said the EACC was no longer independent but was an extension of the Jubilee administration and should therefore be disbanded. The MPs spoke at Kawangware Primary School in Nairobi yesterday.

Businesswoman Josephine Kabura, who is at the centre of the scam, has implicated Ms Waiguru and claimed the EACC stage-managed her arrest.
