Florence Kajuju denies backing out of re-election chase

Meru Woman representative Florence Kajuju has dismissed reports of pulling out of the race to defend her seat.
During a press conference in Meru on Sunday, Ms Kajuju told her competitors to be ready for a bruising nomination battle for the Jubilee Party ticket.
The vocal MP, who is facing formidable challenge from media owner Kawira Mwangaza and Elizabeth Kailemia (a JP member), denied that she has been promised a position in the East Africa Legislative Assembly if she opts out of the race.
"Whatever offers that anyone has in mind I am not ready for them. I am firmly in the race for this position and I will defend my seat," she said.
Ms Kajuju hails from Tigania and is part of the Kikali political union that has representation from the Imenti, Igembe and Tigania sub-tribes.
Other members of the group are Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi and Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi.
There has been talk that Jubilee stalwarts in the region have approached Ms Mwangaza, a Party of National Unity member, to join Jubilee.
Ms Mwangaza is from Imenti. She was unavailable for comment.
Following the reports, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi - a supporter of Kikali - warned Jubilee against interfering with an earlier agreement on regional balance in the county.
Last week, PNU leader Peter Munya accused Jubilee of plotting to weaken his party by buying out its aspirants.
