IEBC to hold Migori senate by-election in October

The Migori senate by-election will be held on October 8, the electoral agency announced Tuesday.

The position fell vacant after Mr Ben Olouch succumbed to throat cancer last month.

Mr Oluoch was elected on an Orange Democratic Movement party ticket.

The ODM has notified aspirants to apply before July 24.

"In respect to Migori senatorial seat, the National Executive Committee shall determine the mode of nomination of its candidate in accordance with Rule 18.2 of Election and Nomination Rules. The decision of NEC shall be communicated before July 27, 2018," part of the statement by National Elections Board chairperson Robert Arunga says.
