Nasa Co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka Tuesday morning said the coalition was meeting to discuss the government’s plans to scuttle its planned swearing-in at Uhuru Park.

Speaking to journalists at his home in Karen, Nairobi, he said a briefing would be issued after the meeting.

MEDIA FREEDOM

Mr Musyoka added that the shutdown of some media stations was an affront to media freedom and a deliberate attempt by the government to stop Nasa’s plans.

"This is a very important struggle so we are still consulting. The media is under serious attack and we must tell our people what is happening," Mr Musyoka said.

The former Vice President, who was accompanied by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, said the top Nasa leaders would meet to prepare for the event.

"We have to look at the oath itself and release the details. We will let the country know the next move," he told the press at his home in Karen.

Mr Musyoka was non-committal when asked whether their swearing-in would proceed.

"I don’t want to say about that right now. This tactical withdrawal by the police, we don’t know. But our supporters must remain calm," he said.
