ODM changes date for Nyamira, Kisii primaries to April 10

What you need to know:

  • ODM primaries across the country begin on April 7, 2017 and are expected to end on April 23.

The Orange Democratic Party has rescheduled party primaries for Nyamira and Kisii counties that were set to be conducted on Sunday April 9.

ODM National Elections Board Chairperson Judy Pareno said they adjusted the dates accordingly to accommodate religious and cultural aspects of the locals.

She announced in a statement that the primaries will now be conducted in the two counties on Monday April 10.

Ms Pareno said the ODM primaries across the country begin on April 7, 2017 and are expected to end on April 23.

The primaries will be conducted across the country as follows:

On Friday April 7, nominations will be held in Bungoma, Busia and Machakos counties followed by Samburu and Trans Nzoia on April 9 and Kisii and Nyamira on April 10.

On April 11, the polls will be conducted in Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale counties while in Tana River, Siaya and Kisumu, they will be held on April 13.

Turkana and Kakamega counties shall have their primaries on April 15 followed by Kajiado, Taita Taveta and Narok on April 17.

On April 19, Homa Bay, Lamu and Migori will hold their primaries followed by Nakuru, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga on April 21 while April 23 will be the last day for the polls to take place in Nairobi, Makueni and Garissa counties.

Party leader Raila Odinga has assured ODM supporters of free, fair, transparent and credible nominations.
