Police arrest Makadara MP George Aladwa

Makadara MP George Aladwa has been arrested.

Mr Aladwa was arrested Friday night from his Buru buru home, minority whip in the National Assembly Junet Mohamed said.

Mr Mohamed who is also the Suna East MP said the Mr Aladwa is currently being held at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation headquarters.

Police are yet to comment on Mr Aladwa's arrest.

On Wednesday, Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang was dramatically arrested as the government began a crack down on those who plotted and aided the “swearing-in” of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the “people’s president”.

Mr Kajwang — who was to be the oath administrator, although Mr Odinga ended up reading it directly from a paper — was arrested by plainclothes police officers at the Milimani Law Courts and driven to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters moments after he joked about his new title — “Chief Justice” Kajwang’ — which he said he earned during the ceremony.

On Friday self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna was arrested, shortly after he raised the alarm on a police raid at his home.

DCI George Kinoti confirmed that he was arrested for administering an illegal oath and being a member of NRM, a proscribed organisation.
