Double M Services proprietor Mwangi Mugo has died.
According to family sources, Mr Mugo, popularly known as Mandevu died at the Nairobi Hospital on Saturday while undergoing treatment.
Mr Mwangi and his wife, Mary, are the brains behind the 24 and 42-seater Double M commuter buses that ply Eastlands routes.
The couple began the business in 1980 with one bus and it grew to a fleet of 105 vehicles.
“Our business grew because of demand. The industry became ruthless and we felt it was time to give people back their dignity,” Mrs Mwangi said in an earlier interview.
This year Mr Mwangi received an award by Isuzu in Japan for owning a fleet from the motor manufacturing company.
