Champs GSU see off Bungoma in men’s league matches

Champions GSU on Friday beat league returnees Bungoma County 3-0 sets of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-20 and went on to dismiss Western Prisons 3-0 (25-8, 30-28, and 25-15) in the third leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation men’s national league matches played at Eldoret Polytechnic.

On Friday, GSU displayed a brilliant game, with the team’s technical director Samuel Epoloto saying they had prepared well for the match. “We are here to collect points which is very crucial for us. We had prepared well for this match, and the results are here for all to see,” said Epoloto.

In the women’s league, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) lost 3-2 sets of 28-26, 19-25 and 16-25 to Kenya Prisons at the same venue.

Prison’s captain Evelyne Makuto admitted that the match was tough. “It was a tough experience for us but we came prepared especially for KCB who are experienced at this level,” said Makuto. KCB captain Gladys Wairimu said: “We came prepared for the league and we knew we were either going to beat we beat the Kenya Prisons or we lose. We have tried our best and we are happy for the outcome,” said Wangare.

Meanwhile, reigning women champions Kenya Pipeline beat new comers Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) 3-1 (25-18,25-14,16-25,25-8). Kenya Pipeline fielded experienced players in the match.
