Malkia Strikers will begin their Tokyo 2020 Olympics Africa qualifiers against Botswana on January 4, according to the provisional draw released on Tuesday.

Kenya will then take on nemesis and hosts Cameroon on Day Two before taking a rest on January 6.

Paul Bitok’s charges will play Nigeria -who have replaced Mauritius - in their penultimate match before closing their campaign against Egypt.

"Nigeria is a formidable side, they gave us a run for our money at the African Games in Morocco so we cannot afford to underrate them," said Bitok.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Waithaka Kioni confirmed that the official draw will be released by CAVB once the host settles on their preferred order of matches.

"The host has the right to choose the team they will play against in the first match. Cameroon has been requested to respond before end of Wednesday so that the official draw can be released," Kioni told Nation Sport.

Kenya will be gunning for the sole slot reserved for Africa to make her third appearance at the Olympics having featured in the 2000 and 2004 editions in Sydney and Athens respectively.
