Martial artists to benefit from Taikan lessons from top Sensei

What you need to know:

  • Sensei Borowski who is a 6th Dan Aikido holder will arrive in the country on February 11 and will hold workshops in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nyeri for workshops that will run from February 12 to March 9.

The President of the Polish Aikido Association Sensei Piotr Borowski will visit the country next month to conduct a series of workshop to update the local officials and upcoming Taikan martial artists on the latest tactics and rules of the game.

According to Taikan Martial Arts Academy chief executive officer Caleb Atemi, the respected sensei Borowski who is a 6th Dan Aikido holder will arrive in the country on February 11 and will hold workshops in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nyeri for workshops that will run from February 12 to March 9.

The workshops whose main theme is Leadership through Aikido target Taikan clubs and members drawn from across the country.

“The objective of the training is to update Taikan members and clubs on the latest basic principles and tenets of Aikido and appreciate the role of Aikido in leadership and peacemaking,” said Atemi.

In Nairobi, the training will be held at Parklands Baptist Church Eastgate Dojo hall in Nyayo estate from February 12–2. He will then travel to Mombasa on February 24 before proceeding to Malindi two days later.

University of Nairobi will host the Sensei on March 1 with Kenyatta University welcoming him on March 4.

A two-day boot camp will begin the next day at Aberdare National Park.

This will be followed by a training session at Sagana All Saints on March 8 and an inter-club karate tournament the following day.

Meanwhile, Taikan Martial Arts calendar of events will kick off on April 1 with a boot camp in the Aberdare National Park. The karate and chess in the wild tournament involving children will be staged at Kiwi camp in Tsavo National Park in August.

The women’s self-defence workshop will be staged at Parklands Baptist Church Westlands campus in October. The last event of the year will be the children’s camp tournament that will be held during the first week of December in Malindi.
