Shergar Cup run at Ascot Friday

The Globe's premier International Jockey's competition is being run at Ascot on Friday. Great Britain, Ireland, Rest of the World, Europe, and, the Girl's Team, are vying for a larger purse of 60,000 Sterling Pounds, in each of the six races.

It is always followed by a musical concert in the Old Paddock Lawns - this year featuring Jesse J, Tinie Tempah, Go West, and, Charlesy DJ Set. It is a unique event honouring the most famous mystery horse abduction, ever.

Each will have two or three runners, with a limit of ten complete. Points are awarded on order of merit, five rides per person. In case of injury, there are always substitutes available.

The Girl's Team comprises Hayley Turner, Jamie Kah, and, Nanko Fujita. Europe clings to Filip Minarik, Andrie de Vries, and, Gerald Mosse.

A crowd of 20,000 will flock to the Berkshire course to enjoy a seriously light-hearted spectacle, far removed from intense other schedules.

Difficult to predict individual winners to confuse you even more, especially as some of these athletes have not competed here before.
