Kenya-born Dutchwoman Lornah Kiplagat, a multiple world record holder, on Tuesday donated Sh100,000 to help famine victims.
She also pledged to chip in more from her race earnings to assist in famine relief efforts.
Kiplagat, a three-time world half marathon champion and record holder over the 21-kilometre distance, and her cousin, European cross country champion Hilda Kibet - both running for Netherlands - will be running their first major races this season in this Saturday’s Lagos International Half Marathon.
Kiplagat on Tuesday donated cash towards the famine relief effort to Mutui Museo Trustee Initiative chairman, Sam Muumbi, at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
The Initiative already has Sh1.6 million in its account.
