She clocked 73 minutes 8.7 seconds ahead of Josephine Jepkoech who ran 74:47.6 while Winny Jepkorir was third in 75:29.6.

Said Korikwiang after the race: “I’m very happy to have won today after being out of competition for four years. I had prepared well because it’s my first race this season and this is a sign of good things to come.”

Korikwiang said that she has done good training and will be looking forward to shifting from track to the marathon races. “I have done good training for a marathon race but I have not confirmed the one that I’ll participate for now. I will be running more road and marathon races in future,” said the athlete.

In the men’s category, Lumbasi retained his title with some smart running.

Lumbasi, who was second in Copenhagen Half Marathon last month, clocked 63:47.

Isaac Kipkoech came in second in 63:48 while Daniel Kipkosgei finished third in 63:58.
