A new order was established in the men's 800m when Jonathan Kitilit won the Commonwealth Games trials on Saturday at Kasarani.

Kitilit clocked 1 minute and 44.2 seconds beating Wycliffe Kimanyal and Cornelius Tuwei to second and third places in 1:44.6 and 1:44.8 respectively.

The trio makes it to the "Club" Games due April 4-15 in Gold Coast, Australia.

World 800m bronze medallist Kipyegon Bett withdrew from the trials at the last minute owing to a toe injury. Olympic 800m champion David Rudisha also didn't take part at the trials since he is yet to recover from an injury.

Rudisha won silver at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The 2001 World Youth 800m champion Emily Cherotich won women's 800m race in the fastest time in Kenya soil of 1:58.1, stunning Olympic 800m bronze medallist Margaret Nyairera to second place in 1:59.4.

Eglay Nalianya claimed the last slot for the Club Games in 2:01.8 for a third place.
