Speaking to Nation Sport after the race, Chebole attributed his win to thorough training through the guidance of his elder brother Ronald Kwemoi - who specialises in 1500m.

“I want to thank my brother Kwemoi who helped me in training and even encouraged earlier today before I left for the race,” said Chebole, who is representing the North Rift region.

Athletics Kenya is using the Eldoret meet to select the team that will represent the country in the World Cross Country Championships to be held in Aarhus, Denmark on March 30.
