Olympic sponsors Tusker have handed over the official travelling kit to Team Kenya, with the team expected to receive the national flag from President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, on Friday.
National Olympic Committee of Kenya deputy secretary general, James Chacha, received the kit on Tuesday from Kenya Breweries Limited’s legal director Nadida Rowlands in Nairobi.
The first contingent of the Kenyan team, comprising men’s and women’s sevens rugby teams and some sprinters, is set to depart for Rio on Sunday.
Rowlands reaffirmed Kenya Breweries Limited’s commitment towards team Kenya and wished the athletes all the best at the Games.
“We will continue in our support of team Kenya and wish the athletes all the best when they head out to Rio, we believe they will do us all proud,” he said during the same event.
Tusker is running the Twende Rio campaign to rally Kenyans behind the team. Throughout the campaign period, Tusker has awarded hundreds of winners with daily and weekly prizes, among them one lucky winner with a trip to Rio.
