Footprints on Saturday made a flying start in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women’s Division One league play-off finals, beating Masaku Sparks 60-43 in Game One at Upper Hill School Out Door Courts in Nairobi.

Footprints, who led Masaku Sparks 27-23 at the break, are favourites to stretch their lead to 2-0 on the best-of-five series when they meet Masaku Sparks Game Two at the same venue ton Sunday.

An elated Footprints coach Juma Kent said: “We shall use  the same strategy to win Game Two to enhance our chances of winning the first championship on a 3-0 run.”

In men’s Division One play-off finals opener, World Hope rocked Lakeside 56-52 at the same venue on Saturday.

Kisumu-based Lakeside had squeezed a narrow 25-24 half-time lead but squandered the advantage as World Hope clawed their way back into the game.

Vincent Majimbo led in the scoring charts with 14 points for World Hope, while Willis Ochieng replied with 13 for the losers.

At the same time, Eric Olum scored 14 points to lead Emyba to a resounding 65-59 win over KDF Morans in their Game One of men’s Division One play-offs final at Upper Hill.

Morans had made a brilliant start in the match, racing to a 33-32 half-time lead but relaxed their offense, allowing experienced Emyba to hit them hard in the last two quarters to carry the day.

Stephen Simiyu scored 12 points for KDF Morans. Game Two matches are scheduled for the same venue today starting at 10am.
