Kenya Under-19 cricket team Tuesday lost to Sri Lanka by 311 runs in the Plate quarter-finals of Under-19 World Cup at Lincoln Green, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Batting first, Sri Lanka set a mammoth target, 420 for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Hasitha Boyagoda missed to score double century by nine runs.

His 191 came off 152 deliveries with 28 boundaries and two sixes. He was Sri Lanka’s highest runs getter and was named player of the match. Nishan Fernando (60 off 58 balls with seven boundaries, Kamindu Mendis with unbeaten 53 that came off 21 balls with three boundaries and four sixes, Nuwanidu Fernando (35 not out off 18 balls with five boundaries and a six) and Jehan Daniels (37 off 24 balls with two boundaries and a six) were Sri Lanka’s main scorers.

In reply, Kenya was rooted for a paltry 108 in 36.5 overs. Thomas Ochieng top-scored for Kenya with 45 that came off 63 balls with five boundaries.
