Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and hosts Rwanda will fight it out for the two slots reserved for Eastern Sub-region in the Africa Regional World T20 qualifiers.

Asked about the replacement of Rakep Patel, who resigned as team captain after Kenya’s poor performance in Namibia during the ICC World Cricket League Division Two in February this year, Odumbe said: “I will sit down with the selection sub-committee to name new captain because that is the right protocol.”

Odumbe also said that he would bring in some of the boys who represented the country in the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand early this year to his side.

He added that he would be comfortable working with a squad of 28 players as he prepares for the regional competition.

The other African sub-regions are North-Western and Southern.

North Western picked its teams - Ghana and hosts Nigeria during the tournament that ran from April 14 to 21 in Lagos.

Botswana will host the Southern-Sub-region qualifiers from October 28 to November 3. The date for the Africa Regional qualifiers are yet to be announced by the Africa Cricket Association.
