Stray Lions down Gymkhana in Nairobi Twenty20 thriller

Stray Lions on Sunday edged out home side Nairobi Gymkhana by three runs in a thrilling Nairobi Provincial cricket Association (NPCA) Twenty20 match.

Batting first, the Lions set a target of 175 with six wickets in hand in their allotted 20 overs.

Shem Ngoche knocked half a century, 69 that came off 42 balls with four boundaries and four sixes). He was Lions’ highest runs getter.

Collins Obuya (44 off 21 balls with five boundaries and two sixes), Nadeem Ahmede (13 off 12 balls with two boundaries) and Nitin Arvind with a run a ball 13 that included two boundaries were the other Lions’ batsmen who posted double digit figures.

Gymkhana’s wickets were shared among Sidhraj Virajput (2/20), Martin Okoth (1/36) and Ahmed (1/36).

In reply, Gymkhana missed the target by four runs, as they completed their ovals with a score of 171 and single wicket in hand. 

Lucas Oluoch knocked a quick 48 that came off 14 deliveries with two boundaries and six towering sixes.

At Lavington, Twenty20 defending champions, hosts Swamibapa, beat Sikh Union by 133 runs at Nairobi Jaffreys.

Batting first, Swamibapa scored 202 for the loss of three wickets in their allotted overs. In reply, Sikh Union managed to post  69  runs for the loss of 9 wickets on the scoreboard.
