Swamibapa Saturday beat Obuya Academy in a thrilling Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) Super Division league match, winning by two runs at Jamuhuri High School.

Batting first, Swamibapa were restricted to 82 runs by the time all their batsmen were sent back to the pavilion in 15.3 of the allocated 20 overs.

Alex Obanda (25 off 22 balls with three boundaries and a six), Irfan Karim (a run a ball 18 with one boundary and Gurdeep Singh (11 off 13 balls) were the only batsmen who posted double digit figures for their team.

Tarandeep Singh had a brilliant performance with the ball taking three wickets for same number of runs conceded in nine balls.

Other Academy wicket takers were Festus Agesa (3/25), Brian Isiah (2/19 and Gerald Mwendwa (1/22)

In reply, the Academy scored 80 runs with five wickets in hand by the time they completed their allotted overs.

Collins Obuya who was unbeaten on 40 that came off three boundaries and two sixes, top scored for the Academy.

His elder brother, David (13 off 21 balls with two boundaries) was the only other Academy batsman who got double digit figures.

Swamibapa’s wickets were shared among Jadavji Bhimji (1/11), Emmanuel Bundi (1/17), James Ngoche (1/13) and Mitesh Sanghani (1/15).

Elsewhere, Stray Lions (83 for 5 in 10.5 overs) beat Ruaraka (82 all out in 15.3 overs) Ruaraka (81 all out in 18 overs) by five wickets.

Kanbis (188 for 8 in 20 overs) beat Ngara (98 for 6 in 20 overs) by 99 runs.

Kongonis (124 for 5 in 18.3 overs) beat Sikh Union (119 for 8 in 2 overs) by five runs.

The tournament continues on Sunday at various grounds across the capital.
