42 clubs set to feature in FKF Mombasa County League

A record of 42 clubs will participate in the men's FKF OdiBet Mombasa County League for the 2019/2020 season.

According to FKF South Coast branch chief executive officer Sumba Bwire, the draw was conducted in the presence of the clubs. The clubs have been divided into six pools of seven teams each.

He said Pool A consists of Chaani Youth, Ocean Stars, Eleven Brothers, Mega, Man City, Sharks and Birikani Gunners. Pool B comprises of Miritini Youngsters, Tatu FC, Black Madrid, Mwamlai Rangers, Kongowea United, Kisimani Youth and Kishada Soccer Academy.

Pool C has Nyali Strikers, Soccermania, Simba Apparel, Pendua Rangers, Western Youth, Voroni Strikers, Ziwani Sportiff while Wembe Stars, Burnley Amateur, Allidina Sea Eagles, Kisauni Youth, Bandarini, Gape FC and Freretown Youth are in Pool D.

Pool E has Cathalunya, Kadzonzo, Mablanda, Jomvu Super Star, Silvado, Mamb and Luxury with Pool F consists of Kisauni Hope, Hidden Talent, Shofco, Talanta Sportiff, Young Talent, Mombasa Olympic and Timbwani Youth.

THREE-YEAR CONTRACT

Bwire said the top teams from each pool will qualify for the mini-league whose eventual finalists will earn promotion to the FKF South Coast Branch League the following season.

The league will kick off on January 4 next year and conclude with the mini-league in June. Miritini Youth were crowned the 2019 champions after beating Kitaka 4-2 on post-match penalties following a 2-2 stalemate in the normal regulation time.

Premier Betting company Odibet and FKF entered into three-year county league sponsorship deal worthy Sh127 millions aimed at growing local football talent at the grassroot level. The sponsorship will see among other goodies each county league club receive six balls and playing kits.

A total of 20 teams from Mombasa have also confirmed their participation in the FKF OdiBets Mombasa County Ladies League for the 2019-2020 season.

The teams include Mombasa Olympic (Mvita), Changamwe Ladies, Kipevu Ladies, Nyota Queens, Chaani Ladies (Changamwe), Shofco, Mikindani Ladies, Allidina Ladies (Jomvu), Okoa Sasa, Fortune Ladies, Shanzu Swansea and New Kids (Kisauni).

Others are Ocean Starlets, Likoni Queens, Likoni Starlets, Likoni Stars, Hope Stars, Tumaini Falcons, Zarika, Likoni Eaglets and Kenya Navy (Likoni).

According to the resolutions of the clubs’ meeting held at FKF South Coast Branch office, and chaired by the branch women representative Diona Demba on Thursday, the league starts next month and ends in June 2020.

The venues to be used f=or the matches include Ziwani Lasco, RG Ngala (Mvita), Bomu Stadium, Changamwe Estate, Magongo Primary, Chaani Primary (Changamwe), Miritini Primary, Jomvu Primary, Allidina, Kwa Shee Primary and St,Mary’s Bangladesh (Jomvu), Bomani, Shikadabu, Peleleza, Likoni Secondary and Kijiweni(Likoni).
