Former Hull City forward Dean Windass has promised football fans a ‘great game of football’ when the English club play Gor Mahia on Sunday.

The 49-year old, who enjoyed three separate spells with the Championship side totalling six years, arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday as part of Hull City’s legends ahead of the highly anticipated friendly clash against the thriving Kenyan champions.

He was accompanied by a strong advance party team consisting Hull’s partnership officer Andrew Stead, first team coach Tony Pennock and Medical Officer Rob Price. 

The English contingent Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Sports Principal Secretary Kirimi Kaberia before heading to inspect the refurbished 60,000 seater Kasarani stadium, which will host the clash.

“Though some of the players might be tired from the season,” explained Windass, who is best remembered for leading Hull to promotion to the English Premier League in 2008.

“I have no doubt they will put on a good show and we’re in for a great game of football.”

The English club, led by coach Nigel Adkins and captain Michael Dawson are expected in Nairobi Thursday ahead of this contest, organised by betting firm SportPesa.
