'HOT CONDITIONS'

“I was surprised with how we struggled in large periods of the game but managed to salvage a point towards the end which is quite commendable," said Odhiambo.

His Zoo Kericho counterpart, Sammy Okoth blamed the humid conditions for his side's failure to take all three points.

“We came from a cooler place and the Mombasa conditions made my players tired in the last half where our opponents got the equaliser,” said Okoth.

The game started at a fast pace with Bandari looking the better side and deservedly went ahead in the 11th minute, when Wardi connected with a through pass and unleashed a powerful shot into the far corner.

The goal aroused the visitors, who piled up the pressure and levelled in the 17th minute when Kipkirui collected a fine cross from Stanslaus Akiya to beat the onrushing Bandari goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo.

From then on, Zoo Kericho dominated the proceedings and it was no surprise when in the 34th minute, Madoya headed home the second goal.

Bandari fought gallantly in the last 20 minutes and snatched an equaliser in the 83rd minute when defender Nicholas Meja overlapped and sent a powerful shot which beat Kericho goalkeeper Vincent Misikhu.
