Bishop Njenga retain Chapa Dimba title

Defending champions Bishop Njenga Secondary School from Lugari Saturday retained the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Western Region girls' title.
Bishop Njenga beat Ibinzo Secondary School 2-0 in the final played at Bukhungu stadium on Sunday.
Following the sweet victory, Bishop Njenga booked a ticket to represent the region during the national extravaganza that will held in Meru in June.
Apart from retaining the crown, Bishop Njenga pocketed Sh200,000 and a trophy, while Ibinzo went home with Sh100,000 in prize money.

Bishop Njenga Coach Fred Serenge said team work among his players contributed immensely to their victory.
“We played beautiful football. The players showed good ball distribution which worked well for us. We are determined to reach the National final and lift the crown,” he vowed.
Ibinzo tactician Edgar Akhonya rued missed chances for the loss.
“It is a match we should have won. There were so many turnovers as opposed to goals," he noted.
In the boys' category, Lugari Blue Saints from Lugari came from a goal down to beat The Saints from Mumias 2-1 in a thrilling final played at the same venue.
The Saints snatched the opener via Atem Kato in the 50th minute, before Watson Anami equalized for Lugari in the 63rd minute.
Lugari’s Reagan Mumela scored in the 65th minute to secure a win for his side.
Lugari Blue Saints coach David Kalumu said his team played according to instructions.
“They did not waste the rare scoring chances that came on their side. Apart from that they played a brilliant attacking game,” he observed.
The Saints coach Silvanus Were said his players relaxed after scoring the first goal.
“Immediately the boys scored they relaxed, instead of attacking they kept on back-peddling,” he explained.
