Breezham in final of Coast ‘Chapa Dimba’ tourney

Breezham FC of Malindi put up a sterling performance, beating Iqra FC from Hola 7-1 on Saturday in a one-sided semi-final match of Coast region Safaricom Chapa Dimba youth football tournament at Shanzu Teachers Training College, Mombasa.

Breezham dominated both halves and they should have won by a bigger margin had they taken all their chances. The team was 2-0 ahead in the first four minutes of the match.

Breezham opened the score just 40 seconds into the match when Edson Mlewa connected with Samuel Jefa who beat Iqra defenders and goalkeeper Athunar Dhadho.

The Malindi side doubled their lead in the fourth minute through Jefa who easily sent a powerful shot into the far corner of the net. Iqra scored the consolation in the 30th minute through Noor Dakane.

Breezham came back strongly in the second half and scored their third goal through McDonald Thuva. Breezham’s other goals came via Edison Mlewa (54th minute), Jefa (58) Mohamed Suleiman (61) and Mlewa (70).

In another boys’ semi-final match, Shimba Hills of Kwale qualified for the final after beating Mombasa’s Shimanzi FC 3-1. Shimba scored through Said Msaji in the ninth minute, Ali Hamisi (22) and Ali Kibwebwe (73), with Mohamed Zuberi replying for Shimanzi in the 83rd minute.
