Camp Toyoyo, Mumias among banned match venues

Historical Camp Toyoyo grounds in Jericho estate, Nairobi is among five stadiums banned from hosting matches during the 2018/19 SportPesa Premier League (SPL) season.

Apart from Camp Toyoyo, which hosted several matches last season, Ruaraka grounds owned by East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) and also Tusker's training grounds, Thika Sub-county stadium, Mumias Sports Complex and Chemelil Sports Complex have also been blacklisted.

According to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Stadia Safety and Security Committee, the grounds will not host any matches until recommendations made for their facelift are met to their satisfaction.

“Clubs which had registered these grounds as their home grounds are also kindly requested to seek other alternative venues,” read part of the statement released to the media on Monday.
