Chapa Dimba: 8 storm into Western Regional finals

What you need to know:

  • In the North Western sub-branch, Kapswokony advanced to the regional finals after beating Chelebei Boys 4-2 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
  • Lugari Blue Saints joined Kapswokony after sinking ACK Sirende 2-0 in the final.
  • In the western sub-branch boys’ category, Mukumu Boys beat Kima FC 4-3 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
  • In the Butere/Mumias/Busia region, Kingandole qualified after stopping Ibinda 3-0 in the sub-branch final.

Eight teams have qualified for the Safaricom-sponsored Chapa Dimba Western Region finals set for December 2-3 at the newly refurbished Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.

In the North Western sub-branch, Kapswokony advanced to the regional finals after beating Chelebei Boys 4-2 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. They edged out Ongarian 3-2 in a closely contested tie to storm into the last four.

Lugari Blue Saints joined Kapswokony after sinking ACK Sirende 2-0 in the final. Earlier on, Lugari had beaten 11 Stars 1-0, MSA by the same margin while MSA versus 11 Stars ended 2-0 in favour of the latter.

CHELEBEI THROUGH

In the girls’ category, Chelebei Secondary qualified from the Teso/Mt Elgon region after comfortably beating Kodema 2-0 in the final played at Malaba Stadium on November 5.

In the preliminary matches, Kibuk beat Kongit 2-0, Kodema upstaged Kikapel 2-0 while Chelebei edged out Kongit 3-1 and Kibuk 2-0 respectively before playing to a 2-2 draw with Kongit again.

In the Bungoma/Lugari region, Kavaywa Queens beat Nangili to book their slot in the regional finals.

In the preliminary matches, Classic Ladies lost 2-0 to Bishop Njenga. Earlier on, Bishop Njenga and Kavaywa had played out to a barren draw before Kavaywa humbled Classic Ladies 5-0.

Nangili narrowly beat Mabuye 1-0 while Nangili floored Muyungi 2-0. Muyugi and Mabuye had battled to a barren draw in an earlier match.

MUKUMU ADVANCE

In the western sub-branch boys’ category, Mukumu Boys beat Kima FC 4-3 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

In the preliminaries, Kima beat Chavakali 5-4 on post-match penalties after a 0-0 draw while Mukumu Boys easily swept aside Emulakha FC 3-0.

In the Butere /Mumias/Busia region, Busia Wolves qualified for the regional finals after beating Emanami Muslims by a solitary goal in the final. Busia Wolves had thrashed Bulemia 6-0 in the only preliminary match played on Saturday.

Busia Wolves were later disqualified by the organising committee for fielding an ineligible player. Emanami Muslims replaced them.

In Kakamega/Vihiga region, Shinyalu stunned Lusengeli Galaxy 2-1 in the final at the Chavakali High School on November 5 in the girls’ category.

In the preliminary matches, Lusengeli Galaxy thrashed Khwiliba 4-0 while Khwiliba responded by humbling Vihiga Starlets 3-0.

Lusengeli Galaxy eased past Vihiga Starlets 4-1 while Shinyalu thumped Namatala 5-0.

In the Butere/Mumias/Busia region, Kingandole qualified after stopping Ibinda 3-0 in the sub-branch final.
