The winning team of the 2018 SportPesa Super Cup will travel to England to face Everton, the gaming giants announced Thursday.

This year's edition will feature eight clubs from Kenya and Tanzania and will be played at the refurbished Kasarani Stadium from July 3 to 10, with the winner set to face the Merseyside club at Goodison Park.

Kenya will be represented in the second edition of the tourney with bigwigs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards as well as Kakamega Homeboyz and Kariobangi Sharks, with Tanzania fielding Simba, Yanga, Singida and Zanzibar Champions JKU.

"My club has never played against a foreign side. So this tournament gives us an opportunity to show the world that we have talent at the grassroots," said Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula.

South African side Cape Town City who are sponsored by SportPesa, have opted out owing to logistical challenges.

"It's another opportunity to expose teams from this region across the world which would obviously improve our quality," said Kevin Twissa, SportPesa Chief Marketing Officer.

The winning team will also pocket Sh3 million, while the second, third and fourth placed teams will each pocket Sh1 million, Sh750,000 and Sh500,000 respectively.

Gor Mahia played Everton in the inaugural final last year in Tanzania losing 2-1.
