Former AFC Leopards star Jonas Nahimana has taken up a career in music two years after hanging up his boots.

Nahimana played in the Kenyan Premier League for Leopards, Sofapaka and Sony Sugar between 2011 and 2014.

He then switched to Vietnam for a short spell before relocating to Illinois State in the USA where he settled.

“For those who really know me from where I grew up are not surprised to see me doing music,” Nahimana told Nation Sport. "I have been singing since I was a little boy, at some point I was singing in church at Sofapaka.”

He added: “I have been working on my songs and now people are discovering my other side as an artist. Some people doubt. I am hoping to make a career out of this.”

He also admits to missing AFC Leopards and reveals he takes time to motivate the players, whilst thanking fans for their support.

“I have a strong relationship with the players. I normally encourage a few players individually when they have a good game and I am planning to do more in the future. To the amazing fans, I will always be grateful forever. AFC Leopards is not just about football but family too.”

Nahimana has also encouraged former footballers to try up something they love to spend their time and earn income.
