“This recognition and honour attests to the country’s undying love for the game as it’s only visiting 10 countries in Africa,” said Coca-Cola Senior Brand manager Rodney Nzioka during the launch held at the company’s offices in Nairobi on Wednesday.

He added: “As Coca-Cola, we are excited to share with Kenyans the once in a lifetime opportunity to take photos with the trophy.”

However, the trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people that includes former winners and heads of state.

In this regard, only President Uhuru Kenyatta will hold the trophy at State House in Nairobi once it lands in a Coca-Cola chartered and branded jet.

The tour started in September last year and will pass through more than 50 countries across six continents travelling 126,000 kilometres in nine months leading up to the 2018 showdown in Russia.

Africa’s representatives to the Russia finals are Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal and Tunisia.
