Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge has fired warning shots to Gor Mahia rivals ahead of the SportPesa Cup scheduled for Dar es Salaam next week.

Gor, who’ve won the tourney twice in a row, face Tanzanian side Mbao FC in their first match on January 23 at the National Stadium.

Tanzanian champions Simba SC have been tagged favourites owing to their devastating form both in the local league and the Caf Champions League.

Simba fans, known for their online presence, have already taken to social media predicting an easy triumph for their side.

Tuyisenge, who scored in last year final as Gor beat Simba 2-0 in Nakuru, is not getting distracted by their rivals' form.

“We cannot listen to what fans say because as players, our work is to play,” he said. “But we can't stop them from expressing their opinions.”

“Our aim is to defend the trophy. By winning the previous two editions doesn’t mean we are going there relaxed, but we must come back with the cup,” added the Rwandan skipper.

Gor are slated to arrive in Dar es Salaam on Sunday night after their Caf Confederation Cup playoff second leg match away to New Stars de Douala.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards will be the first visiting club to arrive on Saturday followed by SportPesa Shield winners Kariobangi Sharks.

Bandari, the fourth club representing Kenya, will connect from their base in Mombasa to Nairobi on Sunday morning before departing for Dar.
