IN DAR ES SALAAM

Kenyan representatives at the 2018 Cecafa Kagame Cup Gor Mahia are going for victory in Tuesday’s match against Burundian side Lydia Ludic in their Group B fixture at Chamazi Sports Complex here.

Gor blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Rwandese side Rayon Sports in the first match on Sunday and trailing group leaders AS Ports of Djibouti by two points, K’Ogalo need nothing short of a win.

Gor coach Dylan Kerr has promised fireworks in the fixture with his side having rested enough after a congestion of fixtures back home.

“We played three games in a span of seven days and had to travel here, again, there are things going on in my camp that I am not happy with, they are disuniting my players, for instance Kahata (Francis)’s rumoured move to Simba, he is a player everyone likes and these reports have not done any good in the camp,” lamented Kerr in an interview.

He added: “My players are not sure when they will receive their salaries and bonuses at the same time fatigue catching up with us, at times squad rotation does little but in today’s match, no shortcut, we’ve to win.”

The match will be preceded by that pitting Rayon Sports and AS Ports.

Meanwhile, Ugandan champions Vipers opened up group A with a 1-1 draw against Azam, who are joint top with Zanzibar side Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi (JKU) on four points.

Dan Sserunkuma- inspired Vipers have two points and need a win in Wednesday’s match against minnows Kator of South Sudan to have a chance of advancing to the quarterfinals.

Defending champions Azam face JKU in a do or die fixture on Wednesday as well.

“We are the holders of this competition and so we’ve to do everything to play like we deserve to retain the trophy,” said Azam coach Juma Mwambusi.
