Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi has been sacked following the team's lacklustre performance in qualifier matches for the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup respectively.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Sam Nyamweya announced Kimanzi's dismissal on Tuesday in a statement.

The former Sofapaka coach however, takes up a new role as FKF Technical Director, taking over from Patrick Naggi who has been demoted to the Executive Officer post.

Harambee Stars lost 1-0 to Togo in Lome last Sunday to bow out of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, a week after losing by a similar margin to Namibia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.
