Joe Waithira scored a brace as Nakumatt humiliated limping Mathare United 4-0 in a SportPesa Premier League encounter at Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday.

Harun Nyakha put Waithira through on goal to open the scoring four minutes after the time, the goal separating the two sides at the break.

Waithira, acquired from Wazito in midseason, doubled the scores in the 67th minute after finishing off Moses Odhiambo’s cross from the right flank.

Kelvin Thairu, who replaced Waithira in the 73rd minute, netted the third barely two minutes after coming on before another substitute John Avirre converted a penalty in the 79th minute after being fouled by Johnson Omurwa inside the box.

Substitute Clifford Alwanga had a huge chance to score a consolation goal for the 2008 champions but his penalty was saved by Nakumatt custodian Phillip Odhiambo.

Defender Eugene Ambulwa had handled the ball in the dangerous zone leaving referee Peter Waweru with no option but point the spot four minutes before the final whistle.

The win for Nakumatt, their ninth of the campaign, took their points tally to 32 while Mathare have amassed 38 points after 27 rounds.

The Slum Boys, who have suffered their seventh defeat this term and the second in three meetings against Nakumatt, will have themselves to for wasting numerous scoring chances in both halves.

Mathare came into the match on the back of halting an eight-match winless run with a 2-1 victory over rivals Kariobangi Sharks last Sunday while Nakumatt had collected a point in two games, a 2-2 draw against champions Gor Mahia before falling 4-2 to AFC Leopards last weekend.
