Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) edged visiting Coast Stima 2-0 to go second on the National Super League (NSL) table standings at Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday.

Former Oserian and AFC Leopards forward Simon Abuko broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, finishing off a well taken corner by Dennis Ng’ang’a.

Ng’ang’a, formerly of Tusker, capped his stellar performance on the day with a stunner at the nick of time to double their advantage.

The win saw John Kamau’s team go second on 30 points, five adrift of leaders Western Stima who host Nairobi Stima on Sunday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

"KCB is such an aggressive team with experienced players that outplayed us,” Coast Stima coach Swalleh Kinero conceded after the game.

“We lacked urgency and committed mistakes hence ended up conceding both goals in the second half,” he added.

Visiting Golden Field Evangelism (GFE) held former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Ushuru to a goalless draw in the second match played at the same venue.

“All teams come guns blazing against Ushuru making it difficult for us. However, I must admit that we failed to capitalise on our chances but the most important thing is to take in the result and plan for a win in the next game,” a frustrated Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta, whose side dropped to third place, said.

His counterpart Joshua Obara was contented with an away point as the fight to avoid relegation continues.

“A point away from home is motivating especially at this point we’ve not lost in the last three games,” he said.

Elsewhere at Ruaraka grounds, Kibera Black Stars ended a three-match winless streak with a 2-1 win over Kangemi AllStars thanks to Peter Otiga and Elvis Odhiambo's goals.

Victory saw Godfrey Oduor-coached side return to the top five with 27 points after 16 rounds.

In Kisumu, City Stars registered their sixth win of the ongoing campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kisumu AllStars to take their point tally to 24.
