Kakamega Homeboyz have vowed to make use of the new football philosophy injected by new head coach Paul Nkata when they tackle Tanzania giants Simba in their SportPesa Super semi-final match at Afraha stadium, Nakuru on Thursday.

“Before coach Nkata arrived at the technical bench we were playing badly and in fact lost five matches in a row in the league, but I am happy he has brought a new style of playing which saw us beat Yanga,” said captain and goalkeeper Michael Wanyika.

“The team is now playing as one united unit and we shall face our next opponents Simba with the same zeal we played against Yanga,” added a confident Wanyika.

“The two Tanzania giants play almost the same pattern of football and since we have already tested one of the big teams and beaten them hands down, we shall also repeat the same tomorrow (Thursday).”

Coach Nkata said his charges will not be under pressure as their win against Yanga has made them psychologically prepared.

“When you go into such a big tournament like this being an underdog is great advantage as you play better with no pressure and that is our driving force in this tournament,” said coach Nkata.

He said top striker Allan Wanga, who scored two of their goals in their 3-1 win against Yanga is almost fit to play in the semi-final after picking an injury in their quarterfinal match.

“Our team doctor is working hard to make sure he is ready for the semi and I believe he will be in the starting line up,” said Nkata.

Simba captain Mohammed Hussein said that they respect their opponents after beating their arch-rivals.

“We are planning to change our game plan against Kakamega Homeboyz as they are no pushovers,” said Hussein.
