SportPesa Premier League strugglers Kakamega Homeboyz have fired head coach Paul Nkata and his Ugandan compatriot Hamza Kalanzi over match fixing allegations.
Veteran Kenyan international striker Allan Wanga and goalkeeper trainer David Juma have taken charge in an acting capacity.
“The two will be assisted by our technical director Eliud Omukuyia as we carry on with the investigations on seven players who have been involved,” said club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula.
“We’ve already reported to the police with recorded evidence and written to the federation over the same.”
Some of the matches allegedly fixed according to Shimanyula are away to Sony Sugar and Mathare United played on January 2 and 19 respectively.
Sony edged out Homeboyz 2-1 in Awendo while Mathare triumphed 3-2 at Kasarani stadium.
Nkata was not reachable on phone when contacted.
The former City Stars, Muhoroni Youth, Tusker and Bandari coach replaced Mike Mururi at the Kakamega-based side in May 2018, penning a one-year contract that was due to expire in May.
Nkata reportedly left for Uganda this morning.
Homeboyz have managed two wins, three draws and four losses sitting 13th on the log with nine points from as many games.
They host Bandari on Wednesday.
